Invitation to the 45th Intercontinental Airlines Bowling League Tournament

On behalf of Southwest Airlines (WN) LAS, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the United States of America and invite you to participate in the 45th IABL, which will be held in the Dallas, Texas area from May 7 until May 11, 2012.

 

The hotel for the 2012 event is the Sheraton Hotel - Arlington, which is set in the heart or Arlington, Texas. The hotel underwent a $17 million renovation in 2008 and offers comfort and convenience alongside style and charm. With crisp linens and warm smiles you’ll find yourself feeling at home no matter where your point of origin might have been and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the high standards of hospitality upheld by each friendly and professional member of the staff. Spend your day exploring the many wonderful things Arlington has to offer secure in the knowledge that the hotel staff is waiting to welcome you back.

 

Bowling will take place at the AMF Spare Time Lanes located at 3149 S. Cooper Street in Arlington This is a modern bowling center with 40 lanes, a Pro Shop, room for overnight bowling equipment storage, Snack Bar, and a full Bar with waitress service provided during bowling.

In addition to bowling, we have arranged several fun-filled activities:

 

On Day One the welcome reception will take place at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame which is also home to the International Training and Research Center. Transportation will be provided by The Trolley - The Trolley.

 

On Day Two we have a special Texas-style treat for you in the neighboring city of Fort Worth, also known as “Cowtown”. Transportation will be provided to and from the world famous Fort Worth Stockyards.The Stockyards consist of mainly entertainment and shopping venues that capitalize on the "Cowtown" image of Fort Worth. Home to the famous boot making company M.L. Leddy's which is located in the heart of the Stockyards. The city of Fort Worth is often referred to as "Where the West Begins”. Many bars and nightclubs (including the world famous Billy Bob's Texas) are located in the vicinity, and the area has a Western motif. There is also an opry and a rodeo. The Fort Worth Stockyards are the last standing stockyards in the United States. Some volunteers still run the cattle drives through the stockyards, a practice developed in the late 19th century by the frontiersman Charles "Buffalo" Jones, who herded buffalo calves through the streets of Garden City, Kansas.

 

On Day Three we have made arrangements for our casino loving fans to get their gambling fix on. Transportation will be provided to the WinStar Casino which is located about one hour north of Dallas in the neighboring state of Oklahoma.

 

And finally on Day Four we will close out the tournament with a memorable closing and awards ceremony at our host hotel, The Sheraton – Arlington.

Extension of the Package

The hotel has agreed to offer the special 45th IABL Rate to those arriving up to three days  prior to and/or remaining up to three days after the event.  Payment for the extra nights can be made directly to the hotel either in cash or by credit card.  The rate per night which includes complimentary full breakfast buffet for up to two guests is:

Participation Requirements

Complete and return the Event Registration Form and Bowling Registration Form via email to 45thIABL@wnco.com.  A non-refundable deposit of US$200 per person is required to guarantee participation in this event.

Please submit your entry form with deposits for each attendee as soon as possible, but no later than February 15, 2012.   

 

Eligibility Requirements

Please note that participation in an IABL Tournament is subject to strict rules and regulations in relation to:

·        Team Composition i.e., if any Airline does not have the required number of bowlers (4) they may form a Mixed Airline Team with other Airline eligible bowlers.

·        Individual Eligibility Please ensure that you are familiar with the details regarding participation that may be found in the attached “Julio Noriega Memorial Cup” Tournament Constitution, which also outlines the history of the IABL. See attached.

Team Managers/Captains are responsible for the eligibility of their team participants.  Those who are not eligible to bowl are welcome to attend the event, but only as supporters

 

Additionally, car rental rates in the Dallas area are relatively inexpensive.  In most cases, rates are fixed on a daily or weekly basis and there is no additional charge for mileage. For those choosing to use rental cars, the hotel offers valet parking at a rate of US$14 per day or complimentary self parking.

 

Registration and Check-in

Please make sure that you check in and register at the IABL Tournament Committee Desk (location TBD.)  The balance of the package fee, less deposit already paid, is due upon check-in.  We cannot accept credit cards at the IABL Tournament Committee Desk, so payment for the package must be made in cash in USD. 

 

Once registered and checked-in with the IABL Tournament Committee, a credit card can be presented to the hotel front desk, so that incidentals outside the package, if any, can be charged to each room accordingly. Customary check-in time at the hotel is not until 1600 however, the hotel will try to have rooms ready as soon as possible.
